ATL Heat

This is so A-town, it's not funny.

I love the Black Lips. They are one of maybe 5 or 6 acts I've seen live in the city that really impress me. I'm not saying there isn't considerable talent here. But with the lack of aggressive coverage of ATL acts in Atlanta's Alternative/Indie press (yes, I'm looking at you PASTE, ATLANTA, SE Performer, Sunday Paper, WABE, WCLK, Rolling Out, etc) the only way that our local acts will be able to jump to a national audience is by leaving town or getting lucky with an out of town label head stopping by their show. It's fine for established and signed acts to get shine on the front page, but what about the up and coming talent? Do they even have anything to strive for? Maybe that's why the shows are insipid.

All this talent, few great live shows. It's disappointing, really. But the Black Lips never disappoint, do they? Spotted this over at Bem's spot.
