Novel- Donnie Darko

It'd be wrong of me to say he's based in Atlanta because Novel is one of those industry insider/behind the scenes/formerly signed to two major labels acts that has been around the block more than once and has lived in both L.A. and Atlanta for extended periods. As far as I know he's a Cali kid. Like many musicians, however, he made his home here in Atlanta and has been writing and producing for artists behind the scenes with the likes of Dallas Austin for some years.

This is a new offering from him. Check it out. The guy is a talented wordsmith and can sing, too. I always wonder how acts like this don't quite make it over the hump. How is it that he can write hits for other talents and not have a smash hit of his own?
The music industry is a funny place.
