Now see, this is interesting...

MSW aka Mike Wright. This cat reminds me of a less vocally adept Cody ChestnuTT. Call it the live guitars, call it whatever. This Decatur cat reminds me of the ATLien, tho.

Mike Wright "Thick Thighs..." (Couldn't make out the rest of the Title- oops!)

Am I crazy? It's interesting to say the least...Y'all REMEMBER Cody ChestnuTT, right? Him and Saul Williams had a jawn packed out somewhere in Manhattan during CMJ. I aint gonna front, though. I wasn't at the show. I just notcied the crazy line on my way to try to sneak in the Clipse show- which we never got into :o(.

I'm debating on whether I should delve in to ATL's Electronica scene or the very STRONG Drum and Bass at some point scene today.

I've decided to hold off talking about Daryl Reeves, and Gripp until Friday. I like them both and want to be able to put sumin nice together if either of them contact me before then.

We're going to take it to the next level sooooon. This blog is just getting started, really. Gonna add interviews and whatnot. Soon come. I can't wait!

Anyway, It's late- or actually early at this point. I'll holla!

Upcoming mixtapes from Atlanta...

The Audubon Society

One of the best kept secrets in the ATL. You might have seen them around town. They just played the Earl this past Friday night with Collective Efforts, Supastition, Kaze, and Floyd Da Locsmif.

They've held it down at The Royal for F'in Socialites parties as well as at Django's. You can also catch them once a month over The Mark. Tune into their myspace page for updated information.

In either case, word on the street is that Mr. Mind and Variable are working on Volume 4 as we speak. That means two mixtapes from the NorthernArc fam (of which I am a proud member- no plugo)...Dj Unknown's "House of Brew's" mixtape is expected to hit late Summer/early Fall as well.

Until then?

Volume 3: "A Society Affair"

Spoke to Spree Wilson late last week and the good word is that the Knives Out MC is working on a Mixtape with Dj Jamad of the Aphilliates.

Wow. Heard it might have some ill conceptual shit to knock us off our feet. I cannot wait to see what those brothers have in store for us.

Heard anything else about the Atlanta music scene latley? Hit me up and we can talk about it. I don't care if it's Rock, Reggae, Folk, Hip Hop, Jazz, Blues, Electronic or whatever...

This week we are going to talk about Daryl Reeves (since I didn't manage to last week), Clan Destined, Buff1, Days Ahead, and Snowden.

I keep getting questions about this mixtape...

Dj Unknown's upcoming mixtape. Some great folk are going to be on this jawn. I really can't wait till we get this jawn done. At the time when I approached Dj Unknown about this project it really seemed like mixtapes- especially one like THIS which is going to be all original material was that NEXT shit for the left of center movement.

I mean, if radio aint playin our shit. And if it's illegal to podcast the shit (yeah right...check out my Moral Chicanery podcast, btw)

then fine, cus word of mouth is a muthafucker. So are the zines and websites/blogs that talk about the good shit, but it's alotta holes 'n cracks in those models. There are folk that don't pick up URB or Southeast performer , surf the net, or that don't be out every weekend yet they still want to enjoy good music. I think this mixtape will help fill those gaps. If you haven't heard past Dj Unknown mixtapes, check out the NorthernArc myspace and download the free jawns.

By the way, another cat in the ATL is doing sumin similar- the legendary Dj Mafioso. Maf been doin his thing for a minute, and if u know of ATL based Binkis Recs, then u know he's their DJ. If you haven't picked up La Bodega Vol. 3, you behind.

Pick that shit up tommorow. Hit his myspace for that.

But yeah, back to my rant....Nah, fuck a rant. Tell you what...

Make sure you are at that CE show next week. Kaze is bananas. I'm hearing wonderful things about Supastition and Floyd The locsmith...and Audubon society? Shit. Come on now, folks.

Kaze. IF you out there, get at me about this Dj Unknown mixtape.

okay, okay. you want hints on who is on this jawn? Fine.

I'll give you some spoilers on who is scheduled to be on this jawn:

Buff1
Stacy Epps
Jermicide
Don Will from Tanya Morgan
Dillon Formerly of Intellekt & Dirty Digits
Lerhaun
Kelita
Black Milk
Clan Destined
Anonymous
Ricky Raw
Smalleyez

and more... Stay Tuned.

It's still early. We aint even got a name for the shit yet. Some tracks is in, tho and I gotta say them shits is fiya. Look for that shit to be out early August.
