Analogue Atlanta #015: Bringing It

I talk with Atlanta visual artist Fahamu Pecou, Atlanta DJ Duo The Audubon Society, and Atlanta Interscope Recording Artist Prema Lanay.

Fahamu Pecou's Neo-pop series has landed him on the map as a painter to watch. Where does his inspiration come from? What moves him to create? We find out in "Bringing It". I caught up with The Audubon Society at their secret lair in Edgewood. After a few laughs and some trees, we got into what their process is in creating that Audubon sound. Finally, Prema Lanay lays out her road as an artist signed to a major label. She describes being "discovered", her creative energy and the industry.

Well, I've finally got rid of my virus issues. I'd like to thank my lustful desires to see Vivica Fox doing the do for keeping me from uploading files for so long. You'd think a Trojan Horse would be an easy thing to be rid of, but *eh*. If you didn't know, a person on a board I frequent posted up a blog link that supposedly caught ms. Fox white handed. It was an opportunity I couldn't pass up, and alas when you lie down with even the finest of bitches, you come up with fleas. May God forgive me. For my penance I've put together this little mix which was a pain to do with a million pop ups inundating my screen (hence the truncated version). It's not my best work, but I'm not a DJ and this IS free. Same rules as always: there is no individual tracking of the mix in order to protect the artists as much as possible, and none of these are full tracks. Enjoy.

The Audubon Society

One of the best kept secrets in the ATL. You might have seen them around town. They just played the Earl this past Friday night with Collective Efforts, Supastition, Kaze, and Floyd Da Locsmif.

They've held it down at The Royal for F'in Socialites parties as well as at Django's. You can also catch them once a month over The Mark. Tune into their myspace page for updated information.

In either case, word on the street is that Mr. Mind and Variable are working on Volume 4 as we speak. That means two mixtapes from the NorthernArc fam (of which I am a proud member- no plugo)...Dj Unknown's "House of Brew's" mixtape is expected to hit late Summer/early Fall as well.
