Analogue Atlanta#008: Mc Shy D, Clan Destined, Marcel Daniels

Friday, May 30, 2008

It's worth seeing.

I'm not saying this because Amdex is my friend. I don't say that sort of thing to promote people I know. Many of the artists I know however, are dope. I just know how to keep good company. Clan Destined will be performing at Cenci in East Atlanta tonight with Willie Evans Jr. and Kaze. These acts present three compelling examples of how the South has some of the best Hip Hop worth mentioning in 2008. Kaze's stage show is second to few. Clan Destined gives a beat-making tutorial and forgive the large chip on my shoulder, but I feel they perform songs that would get blasted on Youtube if they were from further up the East Coast and I hear great things about Willie Evans Jr's show from Dillon Maurer. I don't think he'd lie to me. Come see some soulful Hip Hop. Fellas, don't be scared drop that 10 piece. I see you over there shaking your head. Few of us enjoy a less than diverse party. Don't worry. Clan Destined never fails to bring the pretty ladies out. Ever.

Will I be there? Oh yes.

Just checking in...

First of all, is it possible to go to any party or event in the city worth being seen at without running into this cat? Kid Kaos was in the house Friday night for the party @ Django's featuring ATL Based MC's Sean Falyon and DG Yola playing LIVE with DC's XO band. It was Go-Go meets ATL hip hop and it was a great time. For a link to the pics and my review, check out my blog on VIMBY.com Saturday? Again, you have options. This is Atlanta, people. Creative Control @ Cenci & A Vibe Called Fresh is going down at Lenny's.
Both are sure to be off the chain. I'll be at A Vibe Called Fresh to support my friend Amdex of the ATL MC Duo Clan Destined and to see ATL-based MC Stacy Epps do her thing. I haven't seen her live since 2006 in NYC at the Stones throw showcase. Been far too long, sista. Don't forget ATL-based MC Mojo Swagger will also be on hand doing his thing.

I'm torn

************Breaking News:RADIANT KIDZ SHOW HAS BEEN MOVED TO MAY 16th AT CENCI in EAST ATLANTA**********************

There are SO many things to do this weekend. Many of them involve friends of mine. Kid Kaos has a jawn this weekend, I believe. Amdex and Stacy Epps will be performing at Lenny's on Saturday and my family, the Radiant Kidz will be performing @ Django this weekend. I'm conflicted. What's worse is that I have to work this Saturday which means I'll only be able to catch a snippet of any show I do attend. I've decided I'm going to try to hit up both Lenny's and Django. I'll only have a few hours but at least I will have the opportunity to get some pics.

Anyway, if you don't remember what you'd be in store for at a Radiant Kidz show, I just happen to have some Video for you. Turn down your speakers a bit. The mic was peaking on my cam when I took it.

Spree Wilson ft Ali Warren on Drums "Far Away" from FireBrand on Vimeo.

Congrats to my boy Spree Wilson, btw who was mentioned in URB magazine and Atlanta's Creative Loafing yesterday. If you had a chance to catch his live performance on Atlanta's 1690 AM, it was special. Unplugged magic. Again, I don't say this because he's practically family, but because he's just that nice. Superior songwriting skills, soulful guitar playing, excellent showmanship and the baddest drummer in the city. What more do you need? Oh yeah, and with NO I.D. and others like Rico wade and Novel schooling him, his learning curve only steepens.

ATL's Clan Destined to release remix album

I'm not sure if you heard, but Clan Destined was recently signed to Rawkus Records as a member of the Rawkus 50. Now, I'ma be real. I don't EXACTLY know what that means.

What I do know is that:
1.) There is some new material from Clan D out there.
2.) They'll need Atlanta's support
3.) This is material for my blog.

So...I'ma talk about it.

These cats stay on their grind. I told y'all before they honorary Jamaicans, yo. I call 'em Claffy & Oliver (Don't tell 'em I said that, though). I guess you can tell I'm crunk to find out that there is more goodness coming from 'em. And guess what? You can preview 'em jawns for FREE, family.

What's fucking with free? Huh? I'ma wait while y'all figure that out. Meanwhile, check their Rawkus 50 page (http://my.rawkus.com/profile/clandvjc). Take 15 seconds to sign up. Take part in the movement and watch these cats blow up.

You had better go on and support them now before they selling out shows at the tabernacle and you talking about $25 is "TOO HIGH"!
