I've been going through the archives and by popular demand?

...It looks like people are wanting to hear more of the Grits 'n Gravy mixes I used to make which are basically comprised of whatever I'm listening to at the time, some ATL music and new music I find interesting.

...I'll be honest. The Documentary I'm working on with my partner Kamal, the Analogue Atlanta podcast I do for VIMBY.com covering atlanta Arts and my writing for Art Nouveau magazine take a great deal of time out of my schedule. The biggest chunk of that time is spent trying to run down artists with stories that are compelling to bring to y'all each week.

But I tell you what. I'm going to start doing Grits 'n Gravy again. Between all of them I've had like 3,000 downloads which is nothing to shrug at. There've been 1,115 downloaded from the Divshare group alone- which is only have of all the mixes the rest of which were hosted on my site. That's kind of exciting because:

1. I'm not a DJ.
2. I don't play most of these tracks all the way through. (I can't get sued, y'all. I'm broke!)

Until then, here are some of the old mixes...

Well, the new mix is finally here.

Alot happened this week. I got caught up in some business, but in any case, here it is, finally. Sorry to leave y'all waiting. You know the deal with Grits 'n Gravy. This is a mix featuring Southern and ATL artists with a sprinkling of whatever it is I'm feeling at the time in "urban" music. Almost threw some Balkan Beat box and other stuff in there, but I've been pretty consistent with this mix and didn't want to throw any of you for a loop. Same deal as always- songs are truncated and mixed into one track to protect the artists as much as possible. Use it as a preview to find that new-new.

Anywhoo...

Okay, I didn't have a chance to post a new mix.

I'm sorry. My parents came by the house to tell us about their winter holiday, and to share pictures of the old country (Jamaica). Between that and Bowl games today, I had no time to create or post my mix. I offer my humble apology. Tomorrow I have to go in to work early, BUT I will try my best to get a mix out to y'all by Friday. We'll see. Until then...

How have y'all been?

Been awhile, hasn't it? Well, I've come bearing gifts. Actually I only have one gift, a mix! Grits 'n Gravy Volume 9.

I don't pretend to be a DJ, but these are some tracks I like chopped up and blended together to protect the artist's material as much as possible. Enjoy, tho.

Meanwhile I'll get back to ordering some glasses. I've had my eye on an antique pair for quite some time and I might go ahead and pull the trigger tomorrow.

It's Wednesday! Time for a free mix.

Y'all know the deal. Every Wednesday I post a mix I like to call "Grits 'N Gravy". It's just bascially music I've been listening to over the weekend. It's called Grits 'N Gravy because I like to feature Atlanta or Southern Artists as much as possible. I do have eclectic tastes, but with this mix I try to keep these mixes "Urban". This is because these mixes began as a primer for many of my friends, and they like urban music. I AM NOT A DJ. *shrugs* Anyway, here it is:

Been a crazy week, y'all.

Never did get around to posting a mix for y'all yesterday. I feel bad about that. I also didn't post last week's Moral Chicanery. But at this point, it would seem weird to post a show talking about old topics. However I do have a mix for you. For the unitiated, I'm not a DJ! I play one online. Bascially I just put this mix together featuring mostly southern and ATL based artists for fun. Here it is, enjoy!

BTW, Fuck Divshare. I posted up two files and both them shits didn't work.

It's a Wednesday and that means a free mix.

I think I'd like to offer y'all a free helping of Grits 'n Gravy on Wednesdays. I started working on a mix last night after I stopped my Lenny's to show my face over at Nesslee's show. I saw some of the Beat Chef crew out there, btw. Big shout out to them. But yeah, I think this will be cool. I didn't finish this mix, so I'm going to post an older mix from a few months back. It's a LITTLE dated, but since NorthernArc is from the future some of it might be new to you.

Look forward to a brand new Grits 'n Gravy volume 6 with new shit and hopefully some exclusives next Wednesday.
