Slaughterhouse, Killer Mike, Stanza, Senor Kaos, Smalleyez & The Regime

Too many on one bill? Maybe. If nobody does more than 3 songs, it could work. I like all these ATL acts but damn that's a lot of waiting to get to the "Headliners". To be honest if I were to attend this show I'd stay for all of the opening acts and leave when Slaughterhouse got on. They bore me to tears.

Who I'm looking out for in 2009...

I'll talk about different categories of music but since I'm a Hip Hop lover first, I'll talk about Hip Hop acts here in Atlanta I'm looking to see big things from in 2009...

1. Hollyweerd.

It's time to cash in. They make pop-friendly music that can be bumped in the 'hood or blasted in the suburbs. It's also capable of toeing trendy and more conservative Hip Hop lines. I think this might be their year to make good on a strong year of grinding in 2008.

2. Spree Wilson.

Placement on BET and MTV is huge for someone who doesn't have an album or EP out yet. He'll be dropping an EP in 2009 so I'm expecting some big news from Mr. Wilson this year...

3. B.o.B

I don't know if people are ready for what he has to offer. He's a regular dude that thinks. That will make his subject matter complexed in that it will run a wide range of topics. Remember that he's gotten huge press and he still doesn't have an album out. He could be this year's Wale. Some out of towners want to hate on him for not choosing an approach or not bringing cerebral lyrics ala elzhi each time he steps to the mic but...Where was Elzhi's press last year? Exactly. (no hate on Elzhi- I've loved S.V. from day one). Tupac understood how to write music that could reach the people and I think B.o.B is taking a page from that journal.

4. Bangladesh

You can't escape his name on the blogosphere this year. This year I expect to see the producer/MC to cash in on his Lil Wayne spotlight from 2008.

5. Senor Kaos.

With production from people like Sucio Smash and DJ Spinna, industry connections in promotions, college radio and the blogosphere and his signature versatile flow, I don't know that there isn't an artist that can TRY to stay underground and still get checks cut like Kaos might this year. We'll see, but I'm expecting big things.

This isn't a political list, there aren't any honorable mentions, no plugs for friends, etc. *shrugs* This is just who I'm keeping an eye on for some outside-of-Atlanta buzz this year.

One of my favorite carpetbaggers

No, he's not home-grown but he's still one of ours. Kid Kaos aka Senor Kaos has been doing his thing in the ATL music scene as a member of Vintage Imperial, a solo artist and as ATL's resident hip-hop promotions specialist for some years. I'd clown him for being a carpetbagger from Brooklyn, but I'ma carpetbagger from Brooklyn too as well as a Mets fan. We have to stick together.

Peep this no-so-new jawn from him I've been sitting on for a few weeks- or is it months? Who can keep up?
