In advance of his new album, Ricky Raw ...

ATL Rapper, Drum & Bass afficionado, and overall nice guy Ricky Raw has a new album coming out. Not to be left out in the mixtape craze, he's decided to bless us with another mixtape. The man understands that most of us suffer from ADD and we simply can't wait until the new album drops to hear some music from Mr. Raw. Aint that thoughtful of him?

Okay. I dropped the ball this weekend, y'all.

There seamed to be a million things going on in the city and I didn't parttake in any of it really. Battles was in town this Friday. I can't believe I missed them. I had to work Friday Night until around midnight and turns out that I arrived too late for the Battles show. I also missed Feist, btw- which means that I missed Grizzly bear as well. WTF. Horrid, Horrid weekend. Except that Father's Day was dope. Always good to go home and see my family. Maybe if we're lucky ATL Blog Cable and Tweed will have footage or mp3's of these shows in addition to his Bonnaroo coverage.
I heard the respect my fresh party was packed out at Django's on Friday night. I aint gonna lie, though. My pockets were slim. Wifey didn't put my budget allowance in the bank account, yo. I knew I didn't have enough cash to get in the party. lol. *shrugs* I aint gotta front. That's real life shit right there.
Taking a gander of these pics from Decatur Social Club on Friday night courtesy of The Midnight Socialite, it looks like a fun time was had by all. My friends were complaining about the drive out to Decatur, so we didn't go to that either. Again, I was fucking up. I heard that Django's on Saturday night was terrific, tho. I can imagine Slush @ the Royal with Matt Roan spinning had to be just as good. Fuck it tho, right? Why live in the past?

This weekend is huge, yo. Phonte gonna be in town with a guest DJ that goes by the moniker of Brainchild this weekend. If you weren't aware, Phonte has been doing some interesting covers. Check out this his take of "Africa" By Toto. It's also going down at the Afrikan Djeli Cultural Arts Center with some Nationallly/Internationlly celebrated Poets...can't forget ATL's own Snowden has a show this weekend as well, we'll get into all of that later this week. I don't have any links handy and I really can't remember dates, and times right now.

Before I leave y'all with this treat from Bone Crusher. I have to say that I was enjoying my Westside Atlanta evening today. I was chilling over at the Lushlife cafe before thinking better of spending some bread on a plate when wifey already cooked dinner...I stopped by the raw foods store to cop my fat ass some veggies- they were closed, but some folk were drumming out behind the jawn. And then I rode down MLK taking a gander at the fine ladies over at Mosley Park intermingled amongst the Bikers that always come out in numbers on Summer Sundays and Saturdays.

Beautiful Drive. I will forever love Atlanta.

Well, appearantly that new Animal Collective...

The new Animal Collective has leaked. Now, I'm not a proponent of downloading and dispersing an Artist's album. Y'all know that. But what I will do is post a link to a site where you can LISTEN to the entire thing. It's Excellent.
While we're on the subject is it just me or is the most amazing music coming out of Baltimore right now? I'm not talking about the B-more hipster/gutter/club craze behind the rump shaking pop palatable but still very interesting music of Spank Rock and Aaron Lacrate and those guys. I'm talking about experimental stuff like Animal Collective and Dolphin. Y'all fuck with Dolphin? The man is dropping 5 albums this year. FIVE. Another Blogger sat down recently to talk to him about his art (she's cute btw so that makes it even easier to give her site a plug. Don't tell my wife, tho...I see you baby! I didn't mean it!). Anyway, I really wish I could find the Dolphin tracks I have on my harddrive somewhere, but I can't. I must have tagged them incorrectly. What you can do is check his myspace, tho and enjoy his music. It's dope.
Since we're talking about B-more club and that scene we might as well mention Cincy's own and Former ATL resident and Dj Pase Rock's "So fucking Disco". This track is fly as hell. A mid-summer blazer (it's been out for awhile, tho). Don't front. I see those toes tapping. Go get his new mix.
How? Check out his myspace.

I think I'll leave y'all with a taste of Animal Collective Live...They'll be here in Atlanta at Variety Playhouse later this Fall- September 26th to be exact.

Oh yes, I almost forgot. If you didn't get that Spank Rock Fabriclive mix, not only are you behind, but you are missing out. It's dope as shit. Here is a taste.
